Katy Dix has drawn inspiration for this book from her childhood favourites of The Water-Babies by Charles Kingsley with its wonderful illustrations, and The Tiger Who Came to Tea, the charming classic story written and illustrated by Judith Kerr.

Katy Dix is a doctor and has recently retired from general practice. She lives in rural England and Mimi the Mermaid is her first children's book.
