If that number is the answer to one of the algebra questions, then the area has to be colored. When all the target areas of a particular puzzle are colored, then the hidden picture is revealed.
Ann McNair was a teacher of math in the UK for many years until recent retirement. Her books have been tried and tested in the schools. Robyn is a full time illustrator working in South London.
