On the 14th day of August 2019, I had a wake-up call that took me by surprise. I didn't know how much my life was about to change.
After a long-term relationship ended, I was devastated beyond belief. I found myself depressed, lonely and very insecure.
By chance, I met a long-lost friend and from then on I was living the good life. I was partying and over-indulging in ways that would eventually take their toll on my health. This resulted in an 11mm gallstone which caused me excruciating pain.
Ending up in hospital was what needed to happen in order for me to change my lifestyle for the better. To achieve the results I wanted, I had to make difficult choices.
The doctor advised me to have surgery to remove my gallbladder.
With all odds against me I changed my lifestyle and succeeded in keeping my gallbladder.
It was a difficult period of my life, but my decision to take the longer road rather than the quick fix was something I've never regretted.
I wrote this memoir because I want my readers to know that it's okay to do what you believe is right for you.
I hope this book inspires you. Joanne Elvira
