According to reputable medical sources, there are more than 100 identified types of Peripheral Neuropathies (PN) that are experienced by between 15 and 30 million people in the U.S. and at least 130 million people, globally (statistics vary somewhat among sources). While there is such a large number of PN types, all of these conditions boil down to one thing...nerve damage resulting in pain or failure of them to function properly. Nerves become changed with PN, in their reactions to pain and other physical sensations, which can also cause muscle weakness and potential dysfunction in major organs and systems of the body, once being damaged by disease processes. In this book (approximately 4,320 Words), I share my own story regarding my personal experiences with PN, as a thyroid disease and diabetic patient; my also having experienced other negative metabolic manifestations. These include fatty liver disease and vitamin deficiencies, that were contributing factors in my case of nerve disease. CONTENTS: Heading 1: Chronic Stress Plays a Role in the Development of PN Heading 2: When My Symptoms Finally "Hit the Fan" So-To-Speak Heading 3: One Major Disease Diagnosed and Two More To Go ________________________________________ {See my other books on the PN subject by title}: "Peripheral Neuropathy Causes and Treatments" (Published Year-2011) "The Strange Symptoms and Challenges of Peripheral Neuropathy" (Published Year-2013)
Author Biography
In 2003 I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism; "Hashimoto's thyroiditis" being the cause. This autoimmune form of thyroid disease that causes destruction of the thyroid gland resulted in my also developing "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome", due to a compromised immune system with severe co-morbid "Adrenal Fatigue". I also suffered severe anxiety symptoms, including panic attacks early into the onset of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (Hashitoxicosis). I was aso diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and thyroid myopathy, with co-morbid nutritional deficiencies. My eventual receiving of diagnoses was a difficult process with proper diagnostic testing not being ordered by the first doctors I sought treatment from. These types of issues were inspiration for me to become proactive in my own health care and to self-educate myself on these health disorders, which I have done extensively since 2003. I now enjoy sharing this information with other patients experiencing my same health disorders. I formerly served as editor and forum moderator of Thyroid Health for a major multi-topic content site and as a general health writer for another, where I received Editor's Choice Awards for my articles on health subjects.
