Partisan politics as practiced has led to political deadlock. Every issue is supposed to have two sides: one is either for, or against whatever is being offered. This is overly simple, leading to endless debates. Propositions are offered as self-standing issues, with no logical coherence among them. Having principles is not simply subscription to a set of incoherent propositions from a variety of sources on a variety of issues that are held against all reason. Politics is not a game to be played by rich and therefore powerful men, since it effects each of us in our daily lives, including our pocketbooks.
