The national debt is now $21-$22 trillion and counting. Unless we change our ways, it is bankruptcy and dissolution of our nation. We must continue to believe that this country is a wonderful country, a great country; and that it has redemptive qualities and resiliency such that it can deal with its tensions and succeed. The author proposes several measures to deal with the social and moral needs of the nation. We can live within our means; we must live within our means. We are faced in this time of our history to change again, within Constitutional bounds, to overcome our fiscal, economic, and moral dilemmas. We have a social contract with ourselves, our neighbors, our government. In that strength, we have grown to be a great force in the nations of this earth. Pray that we shall remain to do so.
