A thief with a borrowed name.
A crime lord with an unbreakable oath.
And a city that would imprison them both.
In the steam-powered city-state of Springhaven, seventeen-year-old Lenore Crowley steals to survive. Homeless and alone, she lives one step ahead of the Enforcers. If they catch her, she faces a lifetime behind bars.
So, when the eccentric Allen family offers her a new identity-and a way off the streets-she leaps at the chance to step into their glittering world of wealth.
Then Rook finds her.
The handsome, mysterious crime lord comes bearing his own heavy bond-news of Lenore's imprisoned parents. He knows who Lenore really is, and he's sworn an oath that binds his soul to her protection.
As Rook's revelations complicate her safe new life, Lenore becomes entangled with double-agent Enforcers, debuts, assassins, and a kindly vampyre. But brand new friends can't erase her old identity... or keep it hidden forever.
Out of the Shadows is a YA steampunk fantasy set in a Victorian-esque world, filled with strange tech, dangerous politics, and where magic isn't as dead as it seems.
