Familiar characters from the earlier Penrod volume--Maurice Levy, Georgie Basset, Roddy Bitts, Herman and Verman, and Marjorie Jones--make their appearance in Penrod and Sam. This is a delightfully nostalgic look at Tarkington's turn-of-the-century Indiana.
