A covert narcissist is not a person living with a narcissist (co-dependent). A covert narcissist is clearly defined in the literature as one of the two main types of narcissists. The analysis confirmed that overt narcissism and covert narcissism are independent constructs. Both are associated with identity impairment, however, each reflects different internal and interpersonal difficulties. ON is associated with a lack of vicarious personal distress and interpersonal difficulties characterized by dominance/control, neediness/intrusiveness, and lack of assertion.
