by Carol Tansey (Author)
With a background in nutrition and healthcare management, author Carol Tansey is uniquely qualified to document the state of longterm healthcare for Seniors in Montreal-and she does it as a current resident of one such facility. After suffering a series of strokes more than 6 years ago, she was written off as a hopeless case. In this memoir, she recounts both the frustrations and successes she has experienced in her slow recovery and in her attempts to reclaim a semi-independent and gluten-free life. She also presents her recommendations for ways to improve the quality of life for her fellow residents, applicable to any institution charged with the care of Seniors.
Carol Tansey is a Senior-83 years of age. She was on Staff for 5 years in a Nursing Home. She has been 5 years as a Resident in a Nursing Home. She was 6 months in hospital as a patient. She was 11 months in a previous long-term care facility. Carol studied Nutrition at Macdonald College of McGill University. In 1980, she also received a Certificate in Management in Health & Social Services, also from McGill. She has led Discussion Groups in Seniors' Homes for 11 years. She has catered parties for as many as 200 people.
