PSFS: Two Centuries of History 1816-2016 is a history of the Philadelphia Saving Fund Society a mutual savings bank founded as an institution to provide a place for the working man to save. The bank began operation in 1816 when the population, the physical boundaries, and the industrial base of the city were expanding. The book details the history of the bank from its days of being a Philadelphia centric institution through its rise to becoming a nationwide operation and ultimately its dissolution in 1992 by an overly aggressive FDIC where the story did not end.
