by Sylvia D. Court (Author)

This is a book for cat lovers of all ages who enjoy a good adventure with a happy ending.

Rufus was born in the South-West of England at Tythecott, a little thatched cottage nestling in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside.

He was.a cherished pet, enjoying a life of love, luxury and companionship - as all Siamese cats should.

One day, however, his comfortable existence was shattered by a sequence of unexpected and devastating events, plunging him into a terrifying new world of danger and excitement....

"What a charming and enchanting book this turned out to be. In her introduction, Sylvia says that this book will appeal to cat lovers everywhere, but I can say that, as a dog lover, it will actually appeal to all animal lovers everywhere. It has helped me, as a dog person, to understand cats more. During the reading I noticed that Sylvia has that rare skill of feeling and creating a sense of place. You can believe yourself in that environment with Rufus. Also Sylvia has managed to think small and see things from the cat's diminutive point of view. Anthropomorphism is a difficult thing to do well, but Sylvia has managed to do it without the usual sentiment and saccharine. She has easily done it on a level with Black Beauty and The Incredible Journey. It's a great plot too. Therefore I really do recommend this book with five stars... Read it... You won't be disappointed... It's wonderful!" - Henry Butterfield: Author and journalist.

Author Biography

Sylvia Court is an award winning photographer who grew up in Kent. She attended Orpington Grammar School for Girls and then trained as a draughtswoman for British Railways, working at London's Waterloo station - way back in the golden age of steam. She married in 1965 and lived in the Cotswolds for a while, before moving to Tythecott, her dream cottage in rural North Devon where she bred Siamese cats, kept chickens and created highly acclaimed original hand-made ceramic sculptures. She is now retired and living near her two daughters and grandsons in Somerset. She has always had a special affinity with Siamese cats and this is a story about a very special cat that came into her life after being rescued in a traumatised condition from a derelict barn. It took weeks of love and patience but eventually Rufus, as she called him, began to respond. She often wondered how such a beautiful creature could have ended up in such dire circumstances. One day, however, an extraordinary thing happened. She was sitting at her computer with Rufus curled up on her lap. He began purring loudly and suddenly she felt an overwhelming urge to start typing....
