John's refusal to shut the door on unusual options led to his decision to return to New Zealand at the age 59 to live on a remote forested property in the Marlborough Sounds. This was his base for 20 years in teaching shamanic workshops and leading study tours to India, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.
