Saint Peter the Athonite - Paperback

by St Gregory Palamas (Author)

"For what reason is it generally

unknown, since the contents

are in no way inferior to that

of the great saints from all ages who

are famous for their virtue? You all

know who I am talking about, unless

someone is ignorant of this famous

Mount Athos and the Peter named

after it. He was our very first native and

local champion. After overthrowing

the adversary of the whole earth

on this very ground, he then in this

very place became the first trophy of

victory over the enmity of him who

stands against us; and consequently,

by sowing the seed of good works in

due season, it eventually sprouted,

grew up, and bore fruit."
