An Allegory. Sammy the Snowshoe Hare and his parents wear people snowshoes. Why? When this question is posed to Sammy he doesn't know the answer. He seeks to find out why from Orin the wise old Owl, but Sammy doesn't understand Orin's answer. Shortly thereafter, an unexpected life experience helps Sammy discover the answer - that he doesn't really need to wear additional snowshoes to be a Snowshoe Hare. Without them, he discovers his heart and his true self as a Snowshoe Hare.
