by Desert Journal (Author)
The horrifying story of a young woman who escaped an Elephant Butte residence wearing only a padlocked collar and chain around her neck after being kidnapped from Albuquerque and sexually tortured three days in March 1999 opened perhaps one of New Mexico's largest criminal investigations in years. This book is the story of the sadist and his crew and how his guilt was slowly determined in the local newspaper, The Desert Journal.
Bill Johnson was the managing editor of the Desert Journal when the crimes described in this book took place. He personally interviewed the characters around Truth or Consequences, NM, and followed the case from the beginning to end. He was ably assisted by Fred Mramor and David Pierre.
