by Greg Plank (Author)

Based on 50 years in the hotel business and over a million miles flown, the author crafts real hotel and guest events into a novel revealing what really happens daily in hotels. When Edwin Christian inherits the once elegant Hotel St. George from his grandfather, he soon learns that all of his training as a Marine special-recon officer might not be enough to save the aging queen of local hospitality. From murder to scam artists and exotic dancer convention he's soon reminded that clean sheets and a smile aren't all you need when guests are involved. His allies are a unique collection of aging department heads that he once worked for as a child growing up in the hotel. His enemies include two dysfunctional older siblings, the rapidly declining financial results of the hotel, some local city officials on a mission, and the everyday mind-boggling behavior of many hotel guests. Normal people often do strange things on the road. When he meets a young tough-minded attorney, he gets some business relief but he also gets another dilemma...how not to make a fool of himself in trying to create a relationship. The all too real workings and daily happenings in hotels around the world come to life as he tries to save the St. George

Author Biography

After 50 years in the hotel business, I'm still amazed at what people do when they're away from home. To put it simply...when people check into a hotel, they're carrying more baggage than you see in their hands and you're probably going to deal with that too in serving them. Since graduating from Cornell's Hotel School I've done everything from advertising, marketing, managing a hotel, overseeing a region of them and president of two hotel companies. No two days are alike, and generally, no two guests are either. Any hotel employee can tell you that you can have the richest and the rankest guest experiences in a one hour period. The truth is that for the right people, the business, the people and the experiences get into your blood. It's rewarding in an invigorating way. After 50 years, I still love people and serving them. I also love dogs. They are more steady and understanding.
