Sea Stories & Navy Tales is a collection of short stories about people; Navy people for the most part, but others too that took place in the 1970's and 80s. Mainly these are stories about events that took place while the writer was providing physical security, military law enforcement, antiterrorism, emergency management and personnel protection in and for the U. S. Navy.
Author Biography
John J. Cline is the author of several books (Sea Stories & Navy Tales, The Last Confederate Battle and Toby and the Wooden Flute) numerous short stories, and the composer of several songs including, "Song of Idaho," "American Bridal Waltz" and "Sunset in the Harbor". He is currently working on a sequel to "The Last Confederate Battle," titled, "Rebuilding American Dreams". Following a twenty five year career in both the enlisted (Master Chief Petty Officer) and officer corps, ' John Cline retired from the U.S. Navy as a Limited Duty Officer (Mustang) in July 1993 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was the Navy's first Physical Security Officer, responsible for physical security, military law enforcement, antiterrorism, and emergency management programs, operating worldwide, both afloat and ashore. Following his naval career, he was the director of the Idaho Bureau of Disaster Services from 1995 to 2005. He attended Southern Illinois University where he received a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Workforce Education and Curriculum Development. He also received a Master's Degree in National Security Studies; Homeland Security and Defense, from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. John is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (140th Session), and was nationally certified by the National Coordinating Council on Emergency Management and the International Association of Emergency Managers. He is an avid Amateur Radio Operator with the call sign W5USN.
