by Janice M. Ladendorf (Author)

When the movie, Hidalgo, was released in 2004, Frank T. Hopkins became a controversial person. Extensive research has uncovered verifiable facts and identified material he had actually dictated to his wife, Gertrude. The result is a biography based on this information. It includes reprints of all of his unpublished and published work on horses, horsemanship, and endurance riding.

Author Biography

For over sixty years, Janice Ladendorf has been working with horses. Unlike most amateurs, she has trained her own hunters and dressage horses, one of whom was a Spanish Mustang. She has a B.A. degree magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota with a major in history, as well as a master's degree in Library Science. In her books and numerous articles, she had advocated using humane training methods to build a partnership with your horse. Since she retired, she has focused on applying the discipline of history to the study of horses and horsemanship.
