Karen Misuraca grew up in Sonoma County before vineyards replaced the apple orchards, and before daytrippers discovered the rugged coastline and the deep redwood forests, the early California historic sites, and all those welcoming wineries. Today an award-winning travel journalist and guidebook author, she writes about the nooks, crannies, and quirky curiosities of the state for magazines, newspapers, and online media. Karen is also a specialist in international golf travel, and founder of DeepCultureTravel.com. She enjoys the backroads and beaches of Sonoma County with her husband, Michael, and her daughters, grandkids, and a great-grandtoddler.
