She has been honored by the Gullah/Geechee people as a "Gullah/Geechee Anointed Spirit" due to her visionary work and leadership. She has written inspirational devotionals based on Gullah/Geechee proverbs and traditions and has also written a series of books on Gullah/Geechee history, heritage, and culture.
