Sky. Rain. X. - Paperback

by Prisha Perrette (Author)

Sika had to go when she was thirteen - To become a Courtesan of Sirilas. She was picked up from her block in the city and taken. Sirilas, the largest, most functional Rotunda in the world. Rotundas are the large glass domes, greenhouses that all are forced to work and live, since all is desert, inhospitable land. No more cities, no more trees, nor more oceans - No more bees. It is the future. There is nothing but the 'Domes of Paradise' left in the freezing desert. Sika waits for her trial to end in her Rotunda - If they will decide to burn her alive. Yet she burned many times at Sirilas, her Rotunda where she lived and worked as a Courtesan for many years. It was there she performed for the eyes, where she committed her crimes. Her crimes, were her life - They were her survival. She could not escape the duty of her performance - Shadows or light. It was the light that she entered in and out of daily and nightly: An eternity she was made to dance to the beat of the Dome.
