For generations, our ancestors have used proverbs to teach wisdom, bring clarity, and help make sense of everyday life. Across West Africa, proverbs remain an integral part of cultural identity and collective memory.

This small collection brings together a selection of commonly used West African proverbs alongside some of my favorite Liberian sayings. While there are millions of proverbs across the continent, my intention was to create a short, meaningful collection that is easy to read, remember, and pass on.

Each saying carries a layer of truth-offering perspective, encouragement, and gentle insight into the rhythms of life, human nature, and resilience.
