Author Biography

James A. Mangum is a noted Texas author, whose first novel, Dead and Dying Angels (Volume Uno of the Dos Cruces Trilogy), was optioned for film by producer Bruce Gilbert. Gilbert's films, which include On Golden Pond, The China Syndrome, 9 to 5, and Coming Home, have garnered 26 Academy Award nominations. Mangum's second novel, The Vinegaroon Murders (Volume Dos of the Dos Cruces Trilogy) was the 2006 Violet Crown Award winner for Best Fiction. The Vinegaroon Murders was featured in Texas Monthly and reviewed in publications including the Houston Chronicle. Mangum and his wife, Sidney Spires, recently published their first children's book, The Fairy and the Chupacabra, which Mangum illustrated. It is now in bookstores.
