Whilst frantically eeing on foot from the New South Wales Police Force, Ben Hall was shot over 30 times in the back and head. He was armed at the time, however he did not re on the police. He was surrounded by ocers on all sides, with no chance of escape. Once Ben Hall was shot and disabled, the police continued to re at him, riddling his body with bullets, killing him. Over the years, many historians have questioned the legality of the killing of Ben Hall. The Felons Apprehension Act, a law which allows any person to shoot a declared 'outlaw' on sight, had not been fully enacted at the time of the killing. Does this mean the New South Wales Police Force unlawfully killed Ben Hall? Over
150 years have passed since his death, and great controversy still surrounds the legality of his killing to this day
