The Original Gattai-13: Master the 13-Grid Quadruple Samurai Sudoku

Experience the book that defined a new era of logic puzzles. Released in 2013 as the first of its kind, Super Samurai Sudoku introduced the massive "Gattai-13" format-effectively stacking four standard Samurai puzzles into a single, interlocking architectural masterpiece. Authored by Djape, a premier puzzle creator for The Washington Post since 2006, this collection is engineered for those who find standard grids trivial.

Unprecedented Scale and Complexity

Unlike standard Samurai puzzles which feature 5 overlapping grids, each puzzle in this volume consists of 13 overlapping 9x9 Sudoku sub-puzzles. This "Quad Samurai" layout creates a relentless logical flow where every number placed in one sub-grid influences the constraints of the next.

Professional-Grade Logic Rules:
  • Human-Tested Logic: Every puzzle is solvable using pure deductive reasoning-guessing is never required.
  • One Solution Guarantee: Despite the massive scale, each 13-grid layout is verified to have exactly one unique solution.
  • Strategic Depth: Individual sub-puzzles may have multiple solutions if solved in isolation, but the interlocked Gattai-13 structure dictates a singular, perfect path to completion.
Featured "Gift" Variations:

This volume includes four specialized Super Samurai variants to challenge your adaptability:

  • Diagonal Super Samurai X: Features 26 unique diagonals where digits cannot repeat.
  • Consecutive & Non-Consecutive: Logic dictated by the presence (or strict absence) of adjacent numerical sequences.
  • Odd-Even Samurai: Shaded and non-shaded cells dictate numerical parity, adding a visual layer to the deduction.
Optimized for the Elite Solver:

Presented in a large-format layout, these 64 puzzles provide a clean, distraction-free environment for extended sessions. From the authoritative "No Guessing" rule to the expert advice to avoid starting with the center sub-puzzle, this book is built by a master for those ready to conquer the grid.
