The Activist - Paperback

by Abbas Membar (Author)

In the summer of 1990, Tanzania stood at a crossroads in its quest for democracy. Mussa Membar, once at the center of a dramatic flight hijacking that gripped the world for 36 hours, returns from exile with a bold plan to energize the democratic movement. His return, however, takes a perilous turn when he was arrested under mysterious circumstances at the Namanga Border. Separated from allies and accused of treason, Mussa's struggle unfolds in the shadowy confines of Ukonga Prison. As letters smuggled from his cell reveal the harrowing details of his fight for justice, his family and comrades race against time to uncover the truth. Will Mussa's vision for a democratic Tanzania survive against insurmountable odds? The Activist is a riveting tale of courage, sacrifice, and the unyielding quest for freedom that will leave readers inspired and on the edge of their seats.
