Local Patriot militia under the command of Brigadier General William Lee Davidson clash with the British forces under Lord Charles Cornwallis along the banks of the Catawba River in the early morning hours of Feb.1st, 1781. The ensuing engagement is short, yet decisive in its long-standing impact on North Carolina's historic memory of the American Revolutionary War. This work contains a full narrative of the engagement, historiography, photographs, and selected transcriptions of original communications prior to the battle.

Author Biography

Mr. O.C. Stonestreet IV B.S., M.Ed. has written many articles on local history in and around the Lake Norman and Iredell County region. He is also a contributing writer for the Encyclopedia of Urban American History. Mr. Stonestreet currently teaches at Mooresville Senior High School, and at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina.
