The Chronicle Of The Kings Of Britain - Paperback

by Peter Roberts (Author)

Before the Tudors and the Plantagenets, there were the shadowy kings of an older Britain. The past feels startlingly near. The Chronicle Of The Kings Of Britain, in Peter Roberts's fluent Welsh chronicles translation edition, gathers the legendary and early historical kings and rulers of Britain into a single sweeping medieval British chronicle. Drawing on the same tradition that nourished Geoffrey of Monmouth, it stands as a classic British history book where myth, memory, and early medieval Britain history meet. From the supposed origins of the British monarchy to episodes that later became a key Arthurian legend historical source, it offers a vivid primary source history text for understanding how pre Norman Conquest Britain imagined its own beginnings. Long prized by scholars yet readable enough for the armchair, this is as valuable for medieval history students as for British history enthusiasts and Geoffrey of Monmouth readers curious about the Welsh strand of the story. As narrative, it offers drama and continuity; as evidence, it anchors reflections on legend, memory, and power. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions. Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure.
