About the Book Throughout the ages, man has always tried to know and understand himself in order to exist more meaningfully and carve a better place in the world by choosing what he wishes to become and realizing it. This concern for an authentic existence occupies a pre-eminent position in the thoughts and works of S ren Kierkegaard, the Dane and modern existentialist who insists that man should not only know himself as Socrates stresses but he must also choose for himself what he wishes to become and actualize it through his daily dainty activities. With the CONCEPT OF SELF IN THE THOUGHTS OF S REN KIERKEGAARD, Purissima explores, appreciates and critically analyzes the Kierkegaardian position on the self's authentic existence through the various stages of life. She then reminds and also invites all to face the challenges of the goal of human existence that veritably lead to optimal self-awareness and authentic selfhood.

Author Biography

EGBEKPALU Purissima Emelda is a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Jesus the Saviour and a Senior Lecturer in Madonna University, Nigeria. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Philosophy from Pontifical Urban University, Rome, Italy. She holds also her Master's (MA) and Doctorate (PhD) Degrees in the same field from Johanness Gütenberg University, Mainz, Germany and Madonna University, Nigeria, respectively.
