by John Van Horn (Author)
On a raw early March day in 2010, I was passing through Gettysburg and stopped to take what I thought might be my last nostalgic look at the National Park Service's, Gettysburg Cyclorama Center. There was still some snow on the ground and the area was fenced off for the demolition of the structure. Little did I know as I took what I imagined to be my last series of photographs that instead this was the beginning of a periodic pilgrimage that would last several years as I documented this wonderful building, left in a state of limbo. After the destruction of this monument among monuments, I was fortunate to be able to carry on a dialog with Dion Neutra, who with his father, Richard Neutra, designed this architectural masterpiece. Dion has written an excellent foreword for this book providing insight into the design of this amazing structure.
