A wide range of artworks--from paintings by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masters to Japanese and Chinese ceramics--feature in this sumptuous catalogue

The Keithley Collection of art, gifted and promised to the Cleveland Museum of Art in 2020, is impressively varied, encompassing paintings, prints, drawings, and ceramics. Works by Pierre Bonnard, Georges Braque, Maurice Denis, Édouard Vuillard, Gustave Caillebotte, Henri Matisse, Camille Pissarro, Vilhelm Hammersh i, Joan Mitchell, and Andrew Wyeth demonstrate the collection's strengths in Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, modern European, and American paintings. Outstanding ceramics from late-twentieth-century Japan and China's Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) and Ming Dynasty (1268-1644) are also among the extraordinary works showcased in this volume. Director William M. Griswold's interview with Cleveland collectors Nancy F. and Joseph P. Keithley illuminates the couple's approach to collecting and is accompanied by entries from more than twenty eminent American, European, and Asian art scholars, including Ruth Fine, Gloria Groom, Robert Hobbs, Mary Morton, Sarah Roberts, and Nicole Coolidge Rousmaniere.
