Benedict T. Viviano, O.P., entered the Dominican order in 1959. He received his doctorate in biblical studies from Duke in 1976 and his pontifical license in biblical studies from Rome in 1976. He taught at both the Aquinas Institute of Theology and the Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem, and is presently professor of New Testament at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.
