Carmen Karlaff, owner of a native grass and wildflower seed farm in northwestern Minnesota, is busy with spring farming operations, prairie cabin rentals, enjoying her relationship with her boyfriend Nick, and getting to know his half-sister Faye. When an emergency visit to the local dentist is required, she is shocked by the dentist's murder minutes after fixing Carmen's tooth.
