On the coldest winter night of the year, Little Berar slipped from the warmth of his mother's side and the safety of their snowdrift den. Tonight he would hunt with Kalle, the great polar bear. Little Bear had pestered his mother all morning to go hunting with Kalle, but her response came with a warning: "Kalle roams the hunting grounds where the earth touches the sky. You are too young to travel that far." Little Bear did not listen to his mother, it was his dream to be a great hunter, like Kalle. However, he had never left the den on a cold winter's night.

Suzanne Elizabeth Anderson writes inspirational books for kids and adults. She lives in the mountains of Colorado with her very large Newfoundland dogs and enjoys taking them for long walks in the woods.
