by Vittorio Emmanuel Pareto (Author)
This study clarifies the origin of the Pareto name, the history of the Marquises of Pareto, and the genealogical history of the family since the dawn of the Frankish Empire to the late Middle Ages. It reveals the solution to the mysterious origin of count Guglielmo of Monferrato, father of marquis Aleramo, linking the Italian branch to their Carolingian roots. A full genealogy of the Pareto ancestors is presented, from the earliest ancestors to marquis Enrico of Pareto. The more renowned descendants during the medieval period are described, including the Bartolomeo Angelo, whose tomb at the San Lorenzo cathedral displays the family coat of arms, still being used; the geographer Bartolomeo Pareto; and the renowned Benedetto Pareto, who had the unique privilege of twice talking to Saint Maria, the mother of Jesus. A second volume is expected, covering the family history from Lorenzo Pareto, patrician of Genoa, to the modern marquises.
