People were hovering over me like vultures hovering over a desert carcass. "Come back Dan. We miss you." I closed my eyes hoping the vultures would go away. "Where was I....What had happened...?" My thoughts were a jumble. Again, I opened my eyes. There they were with bulging eyes aimed in my direction. "Why was I so interesting to look at?" I wanted to yell, "Back off!" but while the words would form in my mind, they just would not come out of my mouth. What was wrong?

Author Biography

They say that coming out of a coma is like being born a second time. Between smoking, drinking sodas and coffee, meeting new people, writing and my ever-present hallucinations, I have had a good afterlife-my life after coma.
