Maon Floinn is not too keen on living, but still has to live on anyway. While friends and family members die around him, he himself is only almost killed, or just about evades death without even trying. Therefore he finds himself in the situation to deal with his relationship towards death a lot longer than expected. To this end he gives his life a chance and tries love, drugs, and poetry. Unfortunately all of these get him only deeper into trouble. His unexpected adventure of which he is the involuntary hero takes him from an old residence in Scotland to Ireland and into Dublin's Trinity, art museums, and pubs.
