A band of bad guys comes into a small town, encounters little or no opposition to their lifestyle of brigandage and mayhem, and decides to take over the town. They start out beating the Sheriff to death, taking over everything in the place, and almost getting away with it. The Sheriff, on his death bed, deputizes a retired US Army veteran with the admonition to avenge his death and rid the town of the scourge. Only thing was-the new deputy is a black livery operator who must fulfil a dying man's wish, in a town where the words 'black' and 'sheriff' do not go together...
