A true story of the Navajos in the 1930s. Newlyweds, Luciano, a Navajo man and Hollywood extra, and Juanita, a white woman from an Indian dance group, decide to go to New Mexico to live with Luciano's family who speak no English. Both sides have much adjusting to do. Luciano's father had mysteriously died recently, the suspicion being due to Navajo witchcraft, from which the family strives to protect Juanita, who feels puzzled and smothered by their protection. Contains many insights into Navajo customs and traditions.
