by Marshall Butch Armstrong (Author)

Poetry can be so dry and boring it will leave your eyes scratchy and your mind blank. "This Is Not Your Grandmothers Poetry Book" strives to be the kind of poetry that wakes you up, makes you mad or makes you laugh. You'll remember things you did when you were a kid, you'll feel the country breeze and smell the corn in the field. You'll disagree and get mad about it. You'll learn about some social issues you never knew about and you'll want to get right up and do something about them. The author takes you outside walking with his dog Sophie, seeing and feeling everything there. He will take you to Palestine where people are getting shot at. You'll go sliding down hills with the neighbor kids until you are frozen to the bone, and step inside thoughts of suicide. Whatever you thought poetry was before, you'll see it in a different way. Communicating with pure emotion, the words take you for a ride leaving you with a new perspective. "Hot Tropical Nights" asks us, "Was I just a fling for you? To be forgotten once I'm gone? I remember you, and the nights." "A Warm Bed and Rocket Fire" proclaims, "Occupied Territories. Palestinians needing medical care die at the checkpoints because they don't have the right papers.Papers? Checkpoints? What the hell?" And "The Howling" tells us, "Wind screams through the eaves of the house like a wailing witch from ahorror story."Each of the 63 poems and stories from the authors blog, "The Window" will leave you wanting more. Written with a passion for truth and a sincere desire for knowledge, this book will satisfy.
