Nick is a lovable character, a real boy growing up with the effects of Down syndrome, who lives on a farm in northern California with his parents, three sisters, and a brother. Nick's observations begin when his sister reacts with repulsion to a moth that Nick sees is in fact very beautiful. His sister, impressed by their differing viewpoints, says that Nick could be a "Wonderful-Wonder-Watcher." Hence, Nick sets off on his watching adventures, which are full of wonder and enhanced by his imagination. From a little boy who his father said was only two chickens high, he is growing into a young guy who clearly has great potential to live life creatively and with a sense of adventure.
