The researcher used the MARI(R), an art-therapy assessment tool, as the 'treatment' to determine the underlying causes in creative block. This study shows a connection between defense mechanisms and the symbols created in the subjects' artwork. It also shows a connection between the symbols artists resonate with and the thought process in their thinking patterns.
