Walking Through Shadows is the full account of an out of shape American's pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in North West Spain. The daily journal and photographs chronicle the physical, mental, and spiritual challenges encountered on this 36 day journey of 500 miles on foot. He retraces the route taken by countless pilgrims since 1000 a.d. Carl Sesto is a photographer and book artist who undertook this life-changing pilgrimage while on a sabbatical from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where he has taught for 20 years.

Author Biography

Carl Sesto was educated at Rochester Institute of Technology (BFA) & the Visual Studies Workshop (MFA). He established Pentacle Press in 1973, specializing in printing quality books including: Real Dreams, Duane Michaels, 1976; Places, Aaron Siskind, 1976; Paper Negative, Danny Lyon, 1980. He wrote and designed Designer's Guide to Digital Imaging, John Wiley & Sons. His book, Ordinary Events was included in The Printed Picture, a book and exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art and Production Not Reproduction, Museum of Printing History Houston, TX. His photographs, prints, and books are included in numerous private and public collections including: Addison Gallery of American Art; Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris; Fogg Art Museum; Houghton Library; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museum of Modern Art. He is a consultant to publishers and authors, Professor Emeritus of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where he taught for 20 years, and is a member of the Society of Printers.
