Author Biography

When I was growing up in Anderson, Indiana, I always wanted to be a school teacher. I loved books, so I rode my bicycle to the public library and enjoyed their books. I also liked to draw, so secretly I was hoping that I could someday create a book. Now that I am a whole lot older, I can look back over my life and see that my wishes have come true. After graduating from Ball Slate University, I taught children in grades two to eight in elementary schools in Anderson and Muncie, Indiana. Then I went back to college and earned two more degrees so that I could teach college students who wanted to be teachers. I taught children's literature and language arts at both Ball State University and Salisbury University. After forty-three years of teaching, I retired, but there was still one more wish that had not come true. I had not created a book. It seemed like a really hard job, but now I have 'What's Wrong with Charlie?' I hope you enjoy Charlie as much as I enjoyed bringing him to life. I could not have done these things if I had not had a husband who helped and encouraged me. We have three grown up children-Kristin, Buddy, and Paul, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and an Irish setter named Duchess.
