by William J. Santillo (Author)
I wrote this book in an effort to stop or to slow, what I see as a socialist or progressive movement in this country, and it has been happening to our country for some time now. I am 87 years of age. Over this long life, and in this great country, I have seen many disturbing changes taking place in our government. Particularly and especially, in our educational system, where the introduction of the progressive method of education is being used as a tool to capture the minds of the youth of our country. These socialists intend to alter our constitution, our way of life, and our freedom. This began to evolve just before the outbreak of the Second World War. A strong effort has been made by the progressive liberal Democrats to force this country to become a left leaning socialist nation. This is being done in an effort to convince our people that socialism would work well and be of benefit for the people of this nation. This has been their goal over the last nine or ten decades. My book explains how they have been succeeding, and how we have been fading into a socialist state. We, as a nation, under the guidance of our Constitution and Bill of Rights, has shown for the first 140 years, that the opposite is true. Our existence under our Republic, has proven to the world that the idea of freeing the people of a nation by giving them control over their own government, has worked well for the citizens of this great Nation. It has resulted in many people, from the many nations of this world, to want to become citizens of our country, the United States of America.
Author Biography
My name is William J. Santillo. I am the last born of nine children. My date of birth is May 21, 1929. I was born in Manhattan Hospital, NYC, and I grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NYC. I went to P.S. 118, an all-boy elementary school. I graduated and then continued my education at Alexander Hamilton Vocational High School. After High School I served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged, on the 28th day of March, 1950. I worked at my trade, Sheet Metal, for about 10 years, and then started my own business, Santillo Sheet Metal, until I retired in 1994. In the Spring of 1952, I met my wife, Joan Kilweather. We married on the 25th of October 1952, and we will now have been married for 65 years, come this October, 2016. We had three boys and one daughter. My first born son is Genaro. Steven was my third born son and Vittorio was last born. He has been married 14 years to his wife, Angie. My daughter, Ann, was our second born child and has been married 33 years to her husband, Allan. She has worked alongside me, diligently, to edit and then prepare my book for publication. My parents are both Italian born, and immigrated from Naples Italy, on or around 1905. My father, Genaro Santillo, was born September 17, 1887. My mother, Erminia Porchetti, was born January 28, 1889. Both were born in neighboring towns of Naples Italy, but never knew each other until they met in New York City. They were part of the largest wave of the international immigration movement to America at the turn of the 19th century. They came to America, seeking freedom, a better way of life, and to provide greater opportunity for their children. They were successful in that quest.
