Willow is a book for a kid who might sometimes feel like an outsider and wants to be brave. It is the story of a sensitive little girl who wears a feathered mask that she feels gives herself a bit of protection to live in this big, sometimes scary, world. Unable to save a helpless pigeon one school day, she finds herself on a magical and sometimes frustrating journey through a strange forest where she gains advice and insight from the various animals she meets. Not only do the animal guides give her kind words, but they also leave her with special healing stones to carry with her on her journey. Everyone wears a mask, and it's time we feel safe enough to take it off and be accepted and loved for who we are, deep down inside.
