This is the story of villagers of the Rusyn village of Osturna by the Tatra Mountains. Looking for a better life, several of the Vascura family immigrated to America starting in 1897. The youngest daughter stayed behind and married a neighbor. Over the years these related families on both sides of the Atlantic found themselves involved in world events and changing borders.

Author Biography

Fred Wascura grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania and Chicago. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, he has lived in Florida for over 40 years.
