Winterhawk throws the sleepy town of Pyrite into turmoil by openly showing her love for a Black man and by trying to win the town's major "men's" golf tournaments. Cleek is torn between supporting her and competing with her. Their rivalry drives his golf game - and his emotions - to new heights. By the end of a summer he will never forget, Cleek has gained new perspectives on race relations, women's rights and love.
