Author Biography
Susan Goldberg served as editorial director of National Geographic Partners and editor-in-chief of National Geographic magazine from 2014 to 2021. She was the 10th editor of the magazine since it was first published in October 1888--and the first female editor. Under her leadership, National Geographic was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting three times; the magazine won 10 National Magazine Awards, as well as two Webby Media Company of the Year honors. She is now vice dean of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. She lives with her husband in Washington, D.C.
